Abstract
This article
composition has been provided in the form of motivation being an entrepreneur
aspirant in the future. With the topic based on the questions that do the
author thinks he has already had the
skills necessary to persuade and network with people when he had established the
business somehow. Perhaps, a tricky one but a very foundation in the
competitive at large – contracting business.
Insight
Persuasion and networking can be
defined as the target market and with the business, segments as well as why the
author is unique and time-sensitive for that opportunity by starting with his
life on how he grew, and whereas inclined in the business landscape environment.
The author grew up with his parents
were tilted in the market as a seamstress with a dress and tailoring shop,
transportation, Merchandise Retailers, and Distributors in the province at that
time.
Because of persuasion, the author has
learned all the values of entrepreneurship as their apprentice during his
childhood in all aspects of business administration whom his parents were sole
teachers and advisers. However, doing those business activities was made him
motivated all the time, and that was his blood lying on the principles of an
entrepreneur and the diploma he got from his parents.
The upbringing, notwithstanding, the persuasion
came across the market opportunity through networking and that was started during
his University period. And with the business principles, he learned from his
parents, which undoubtedly inherited, being motivated and the strategic ideas
of lifting into the business when his parents broke their relationship and resulted
in a broken home.
Persuasion in Practice prior to Actual
Business Operation
The author is one of those products of
a broken home family and that triggered him as he became independent while
studying at the university in sustaining his daily needs with Artworks
business.
Through market opportunity within the
environment where he was belonging, he marketed his hidden talent in doing
Charcoal Portraitures, participating in the Visual Arts Exhibitions in Bicol
and Manila areas. And to let you know, the author is the youngest Artist in the
KAPARTE-Bicol Association (Figure 01)
who passed their examinations after they scrutinized with the Art Curators of
the originality of my paintings and sculptures, then to Manila when the author
became a member of the Arts Association of the Philippines and won the First
Runner Up in the Visual Artwork National Competition last 2004.
Those occasions happened at the same
time while the author was doing his MEP Contracting Business, and unfortunately
with multi-tasks visions as far as the market opportunity was concerned that
time.
Throwback, Employment Characterization,
and Methodology
During those years whereas the author has
spent his life in the Philippines after passing the licensure board examination
for Mechanical Engineer, he was employed and worked in the contracting company.
The author had noticed how merely the
contracting businesses where they were working on as an organization and as a
company, which triggered and motivated him in becoming an entrepreneur.
Thereby, the author started to keep on
dreaming and studied carefully their business plan and strategy for how the MEP
Contracting Business runs as an organization thoroughly while he was being
employed in the company. Additionally, to gain more practice, the author had
always offered to work free on the given tasks voluntarily without asking for
any overtime payment in return but an exchange of wisdom that he can get with
the functions of the company he was working at that time.
Hence, the author worked hard for those
project assignments over time, and also to satisfy his boss as well, aside from
knowing things which are new to him in all aspects of contracting and marketing
business – strategic planning towards contracting business in the Philippines.
Skills to Persuade and Network with People
in the Business
Persuasion and networking started with
the family upbringing and wisdom whereas the author prowess during his
childhood days as they cultivated his mind into business and motivated the
author as well to become an entrepreneur for having a better set-up and that happened
at his younger age.
However, his parents don’t even support
the decision on whatever he is going to take for the business at all, and that
was through networking when the author was still employed in his previous
employer as Project Mechanical Engineer for the High Rise Building Projects in
Metro Manila. Nevertheless, that was the first motivation and persuaded them
until he grabbed the risks of doing the business at the age of 25-years old
through the market opportunity in hand at that time and the given trust by the
clients.
The challenges and skills he has always
facing as an aspiring entrepreneur was with work experiences. That was
dependent on what the author had as the platform in the business he was looking
for, and that need to establish first for them to believe during his young age
at that time.
The author was facing problems and
troubles with the credentials every time he was marketing as part of his
contracting business. Although the author had a High-Rise Building MEP
Contracts Projects and as a company, as well as a licensed Mechanical Engineer.
However, that was not enough to convince the client and that was because of his
age of 25-years old at that time.
Perhaps, the author eventually holds
the risk-taking of being an Electro-Mechanical Contractor at 25 years old at
that time with more lessons learned but the persuasion and networking don’t
stop that way.
The author had confidence with all the
experiences, qualifications and credentials in hand and now, he is ready to
rock and continue my Contracting and Design Consultancy business in the
Philippines.
However, the author has to finish his obligation
first to his daughters and sons in completing their studies until college, and
by then, going back to continue the vision and dreams for an MEP Contracting
Company but also with the Project Management and Design Consulting Firm which the
author can operate even without his presence in the country.
Persuasion and Network in the Business
The author chose the MEP Design and
Management Design Consultancy business as the priority goal because of
risk-taking and the challenges need within the competitive landscape at large.
And with the expertise at hand of the utilities and building-built environment,
which can share and develop the skills with creative thinking and
innovative mind that changes the infrastructure sustainably. Most of all, being
a Consultant in the field and by his experiences, the initial capital cost
investment is not necessary to start with this kind of business as long as he
has a laptop, mobile phone, fare, and presentable trousers, long sleeve, tuxedo,
and necktie, which will lead to the business for marketing and strategic
planning.
The design and management can do it by himself
in leading the project team as a Consultant and basically, the author will need a
personal secretary to consolidate all the paper works and simplify the meeting
schedules and marketing liaison. The technical feasibility design assessment
report can be prepared and done innovatively by himself because that’s only an
investigation, design analysis, and recommendation that can be discussed and
explain to the clients for the consequences and resolving innovative design for
the project. However, the author can stand now with this kind of business
professionally and face any clients to market with this kind of business
because he himself has already resolved the gaps he had experienced at his
young age in my MEP Contracting Company that time due to the credentials they
need. The opportunity in determining the weaknesses have been fixed now with
the experiences gained with all the projects as he has risk-taking placed and
the credentials in hand in terms of education, certifications, registrations,
licensures, and PRC Professional Licensed as the initial requirement to open
the Consulting Business Firm as well as with the DTI, BIR, SEC and City
Government.
Additionally, the author would like to thanks
the technology as we have now with social media because LinkedIn is a
professional social network that can be used and trust as a platform for
networking and marketing not only in the Philippines but around the globe. And
to be honest, with LinkedIn, the author is voluntarily doing as a Consultant
for FREE, and that’s the reason why he has now 27,770+
LinkedIn Followers Connections.
The Standards we need for the Business
With the module we learned, the context
is a story of Standards evolution and the learning process to attain in meeting
the customer’s perspective in setting a standard for customer needs that
prevails QUALITY and perhaps, not for the quantity, which was prioritized before
and not knowing the effect and values in the market. However, in the
competitive landscape, most of the entrepreneurs nowadays have gone further
experiments, researches and motivational steps in listening to the costumes for
the product or services offered in the improvement of individual business in
setting-up the standards and guidelines through their vision and/or customary
vision towards a sustainable business.
A known author, Richard C. Whiteley
with his book, The Customer-Driven Company (1991), emphasizes amongst the four
questions gathered, that was with the customer’s needs and expectations which
matters most to them. And thereby, all experts have been solidified and agreed
that sets the standards must come from the customers first as well as the
quality of the product or services needs is keeping up with the requirements of
the customer’s satisfaction and approval.
With all the researches, development
and innovations gathered in the world of business, Japan has innovatively
shared and taught us to think in valuing the market that the customer is the
most crucial part of the production line to produce a high-quality product or
services. However, most of the companies nowadays have provided a
supplier-customer relationship on all stages of production to satisfy the
demand of the customers in this regard. Likewise in the services sectors, you
need to value the trusts of the client you are working on in giving
the satisfaction they want in the project by following sets of standards and code
of practice to implement accordingly so that the project will not be compromised
as well as losing the trust of the customers and the contract job as provided
between two parties.
Therefore, in the world of business, we
are dealing with, the standards we need in operation are the sum-total of the
characteristics of the product or services that must be understood and serve
them accurately as defined by the customer or the client.
Overall, in everything we do, the
performance we delivered in our practice must comply with the quality and sets
of standards of zero defects and not by producing a product or services that
are close enough. And this should be carefully understood the demand, variables
and the quality management that needs to address in every walk of life we
tackle for a positive outcome.
And if ever we missed some, there is
always a door for us to improve somehow as well as taking care of our
reputation in the public whether we are dealing with the product or services.
The customer is always right, and it is the quality of our work is of far
greater importance than the quantity (O.P.Ghai; n.d.).
Conclusion
As part of the business marketing
strategy, while working here abroad, the author is motivated in finalizing the
website design norm content for this vision so that the company he is going to
build can be found now on the website and can start working through this part.
And once done, the author can develop a LinkedIn Company Webpage and these
will be linked to the profile on LinkedIn for them to know as well publicly.
The visions whereas the author are looking for, and this is one of the reasons
why the author is very active in education 24/7 to learn more things rather
than roaming around the city with non-sense and monkey business within the
human-altered landscapes.
Therefore, the persuasion and
networking, as well as the experiences earned and up to the present, will bring
into content marketing within the competitive landscape at large. The question is, does the author think as he
already has the skills necessary to persuade and network with people when establishing
the business?
And
to answer that question above, it is YES, the author already has those skills
which can persuade and network with people for the business as he is aiming for
and that will be the vision and mission to pursue.
